Do You Feel Fall in the Air?

Barbie does! It certainly seems to be approaching at Green Hills Farm. Barbie's description of how fall is starting to appear around her is quite captivating.

"The sound of the wind. The clouds fall-ish look. Autumn has arrived - or it must be just around the corner! The nights are cool... it feels delightful to cuddle under cozy warm blankets and get a restful night's sleep."

What does the change in the season mean to you? What do you reflect on? It has been a fruitful year for the Esh's, one that they feel extraordinarily blessed for. Ample rains and bountiful sunshine has yielded nutritious and delicious food for you, their loyal customer.

Moving into fall almost feels like we are slowing down a bit. I don't know about you, but I always feel a sense of peace, calm, and stillness during the Autumn months. The air is crisp and the breezes light and airy. The world around me seems unbothered. I wonder if I will still feel that way this year with our new normal.

Life is definitely different these days and our minds are focused so much on being safe and protected and socially distanced from each other. We should try to remember to stop and admire the beauty of nature that surrounds us. That hasn't changed and we can always revel and find solace in that.

Out on the farm, young roosters are trying their best to master their crowing while the cows can graze happily without the pesky flies landing all about their eyes, backs, and tails. Last fall's laying hens are out on the meadow every day. Young hens (pullets) have been laying pullet eggswhich is always exciting because these small eggs are pretty delicious.

In the next week or so, more broilers will ready to butcher so they may yet be able to get ahead of all the chicken orders and keep the freezer stocked! New chicklets arrived last week, the pigs are out getting fresh air and lots of skim milk, garden scraps, and non-GMO corn, while beefs are occasionally being sent to the butcher for hot dogs, bologna, roasts, steaks, and ground beef.

Guess what's back in stock?
