Calves, Hay, and Strawberries

Who can resist the face of any baby animal? They are so adorably cute. Well, how about two? Twin calves were among the newest babes born on Green Hills Farm. Spring is full of new life and potential! Milk was sent to the cheese plant this week also. Mmmm... who can resist yummy mouth-watering fresh cheese?

Did you know that June is National Dairy Month? Since 1937, the June Dairy Month has been a U.S. tradition. Grocers organizations developed it as a way to distribute extra milk during the warm summer months. By 1939, June had become the official "Dairy Month". Be sure to drink your milk as it creates strong bones and teeth. And what do you know? Chocolate milk is only $3.25/quart and $5.50/ยฝ gallon.

The first dry hay of the year was baled yesterday (lots and lots of it) and stacked in the barn. Barbie has also been busy helping out the produce farmer and his wife once a week keeping after weeds. It's strawberry season, so she is often down there in the mornings to help with the picking. Since it's Dairy Month, get some farm fresh cream to go with your strawberries! Who can resist that delicious combination? Whether you prefer heavy cream or light cream, you can't go wrong. There is a current shortage of cream so the farm will try to accommodate your order if they can.

Thank You for Your Patience

The Esh's wish to thank you for their patience while they were grieving their close friend and neighbor this week. They are truly grateful for your continuing kindness. Due to his passing, normal deliveries on Tuesday was pushed back two days until Thursday so that they could help prepare for the visitation and funeral. He was a gifted singer, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was fun to be around. He will be sorely missed. May he forever rest in peace.

During this time, I also want to remind everyone to take a moment to say "I love you" to someone you love or care for. Give them a hug for no reason other than to show that you appreciate them being in your life. We never know when we will depart from this earth. Cherish the time you have with those around you and make every day as special as you can.

So Long Summer

September... The time of year when the nights begin to get cooler and the breezes lighter. Insects seem less pesky and the world a bit quieter. But work on the farm keeps going and it has been quite a blessing to have so much to do and provide for the Green Hills Farm loyal customers.

Brilliant Splendor of Days on the Farm

Love is in the air... and so is rain! Barbie shares with us the love and grace that the Lord has blessed upon the Esh's. The abundant rains over the past weeks have brought forth life, providing food and nourishment for the animals as they prepare for winter storage.
