Carolina Wrens

I am so looking forward to spring when the the birds song joyfully carry me out of bed in the morning. It's been pretty dull and quiet around these parts for quite a few months. But for our Barbie! She's been blessed to wake up to morning rays of sunshine and the bubbling happy tune of the Carolina Wren. Barbie describes them as being "flighty and cute" and when they sing "they look heavenward before letting out a harmonious tune!". If she had it her way she'd be out there joining them in song! Since she can't whistle the same tune, Barbie chooses to be cheerful and happy in her own way.

Fun Tidbits About Carolina Wrens

According to AllAboutBirds.org, Carolina Wrens slightly smaller than Sparrows and slightly larger than a House Wren. These are tiny birds, weighing in between 0.6 and 0.8 ounces! Males and females are both unpatterned and bright with a reddish-brown color on top and a warm buffy-orange on the bottom. Their eyebrows have a long white stripe, the chin and throat are white, and their bill is dark. They like to look for insects and fruit in vegetated areas and they are quite the explorers, checking out yards, garages and woodpiles. You can usually hear them calling or singing from dense vegetation in wooded areas.

So Long Summer

September... The time of year when the nights begin to get cooler and the breezes lighter. Insects seem less pesky and the world a bit quieter. But work on the farm keeps going and it has been quite a blessing to have so much to do and provide for the Green Hills Farm loyal customers.

Brilliant Splendor of Days on the Farm

Love is in the air... and so is rain! Barbie shares with us the love and grace that the Lord has blessed upon the Esh's. The abundant rains over the past weeks have brought forth life, providing food and nourishment for the animals as they prepare for winter storage.
